GK CABINET & RACK TUNER & POWER CONDITIONER

1) Which cabinet combination (for my GK 1001 RB Head) should I take:

a) GK 410 RBH (8 Ohms) & GK 115 RBH (8 Ohms)
b) GK NEO 410 (8 Ohms) & GK NEO 115 (8 Ohms)
c) 2 X GK 410 RBH (8 Ohms)
d) 2 X GK NEO 410 (8 Ohms)

2) Which Rack Tuner should I use:

a) Korg DTR-1000
b) Korg DTR-2000
c) Korg Pitchblack PRO

3) Which Power Conditioner:

a) Furman M-10Lx E
b) Furman PL-8 CE
c) Furman PL-Plus CE


And please, advise me only between these things I wrote here (don't tell me not to buy something or tell me to buy something that's not on this list). Thank you (in advance) !

Cabs are subjective, I prefer big N heavy so I prefer RBH but I would get 2 4x10s further, I've used an ampeg 8x10 with 1001 and 800rb, killer and easier to move. Tuner, had all 3, use and prefer the pitch black now.
Far as power conditioner, go with one that has the front lights and power outlet on the front. Definitely comes in handy

For cabs, I'd go with two GK Neo 212s, but those aren't on your list. Of the ones on your list, I'd go for two 410RBHs.

If money, backache, and car size aren't a consideration I would go with the two 410RBHs.

If money, backache, car size, and shiny grills are a consideration I would go with the two NEO 410s.

Do not go with the 115 and 410 combo. The two cabinets have unequal power handling, but will receive equal power.

I have a Korg pitchblack pedal tuner and like it a lot.

If you like heavy low end the NEO410s, if you prefer a more balanced tone with punch the RBH 410 two of either with a 1001RB II will cause damage to wooden staged (slight joke there).

Tuner? I have the Pitchblack pedal and really enjoy it, especially thr poly function. Strum all strings at once and if they are pretty close no need to do one at a time.

"Power conditioner", lights and voltage readout are useful features over just a good power strip.

The RBH cabs are completely different beasts than the neo cabs. Depends on if you want a 64 lb neo 410 that is bass heavy and goes very deep in the lows....or a 96 lb 410 rbh that has a more traditional even sound. Both sound great just, different.

Go 2 x 410 RBH. Or if you want lighter, 2 x 212 NEO or 412 NEO. I have a 410 RBH and 412 NEO GK that I power with 2001RB. Both of those cabs sound great, but rbh goes a bit deeper, has slightly darker tone and a better tweeter. I don't even need to use the tweeter on 412, it's got a great full range tone. Don't mix cabs IMO, you'll get better results mixing 2 of the same. I know Flea does it, but he's got 3 pairs of monster rigs and it's only for his stage tone, so he can pretty much do what he wants, and who knows what's actually powered up on stage (could be just parts of his rig).

I wouldn't go for GK NEO 410 personally, it's IMO too scooped, too boomy for my taste.

Ok, money is not my problem right now (or weight or anything like that). I would also go for 2 X GK 410 RBH, but my question is the price difference between those two. Not that I don't have, but is GK 410 RBH "WORTH" of spending 300 € more than I would pay for NEO 410 ? That's the main problem (I play Rock 'N' Roll, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal...if that matters for you to advise me).

I had 2 RBH 410's. Although they were punchy, they were very low end heavy. If your not careful with eq settings, it's easy to sound boomy and get lost in the mix. I now have a neo 412 and have no regrets.

I'm running a pitch black tuner and love it. Not sure which Furman I have. As for the cabs I've never used any of the GK 10s.

Forget the 4x10 plus 1x15. If you need more than one cabinet a pair of the one that sounds best to you is the way to go.

Forget the rack tuner and pick up a Snark or similar tuner.

Forget the power “conditioner” they don’t do anything that a good power bar will do just as well.

This may not be something that you want to hear but it iS sound advice none the less. Don’t waste your hard earned money on unnecessary fluff.

The advice I am giving is from more than fifty years of playing bass. I’ve had the big racks with conditioners, tuners, EQs and multi effects. Six and eight U rack cases. The last of these units will be given away very soon.

Power conditioners are really only useful for keeping your power cables neat. I still use a couple for that function alone.

For tuning I use a Snark. I bought a bunch of them new very cheaply so there is one in every guitar case and another beside my computer where I practice and learn new tunes.

A typical 4x10 can handle a heck of a lot more power than a typical 1x15. Mated with a 4x10 the 1x15 becomes a weak link and subject to damage. You see this pairing in adverts from every manufacturer out there. It does not make the pairing a good idea. Try the the two cabinet types alone and see which one you like better. Then get two. Mismatched cabinets can sound great but may not sound so well in differing venues. Identical cabinets work well every time.

A smile, I hope: At one time I played in a Croatian band with a workmate and his daughter. Every year, here in Toronto, we have the “Caravan.” This lasts a week and pretty much all nationalities are represented in Pavilions across the city. This one year by Saturday we were all a bit tired from playing six nights in the Croatian Pavilion. All of a sudden our young guitar player started of with the intro riff for Tush by ZZ Top. We all joined in enthusiastically and I sang. Even my workmate on his accordion was wailing away. There was more than a little consternation by the folk visiting for a touch of Croatia. We had a ball - then back to the proper repertoire.

Well, as much as I've heard, I gave up on mixing two different cabinets. Everyone said take GK NEO 412 but I don't like 12'', or better said, I hate them. So I decided to take GK 1001 RB and 2 x GK 410 NEO (even I never heard anyone using that combination hahah, but someone has to be the first to try) . Hahah, I'm glad to hear that you're linked with Croatia, because most of people here probably don't know what is Croatia ("maybe a meal or something?") . Which Croatian band please do tell me?
