GK cx210 as extension cab for Ampeg BA-210?

Guys,

have a chance to buy an almost new GK cx210 cab as an extension cab for my Ampeg BA-210 combo and just wanted to know if anybody is playing that combination or have tried it before I go ahead.

I can get the cab for $250 but won't have a chance to test it with my Ampeg before buy at least not with serious power since the guy lives in an apartment building. Heard good things about the cx210 and it is lightweight which is important to me (amp and cap under 40lbs each).

I want to use the combo for gigs to get the full 450W from the amp (GK is 8ohms) and therefore more horsepower and bottom. The dimension will work so that I can stack the Ampeg on the cx210 even when vertical.

I am playing 5 strings and mainly Rock/Pop covers.

Take your combo with you and try it before you buy, even at low volume.

So was able to take the CX210 to band rehearsal. Put it on its side and stacked my BA-210 on top. Really great fit almost the same width.
Loved the more powerful sound, especially the low end. Switched off the BA-210 tweeter since the CX210 has a horn as well that gives enough treble and makes less noise. Loved the combo and bought the GK CX210.
Can’t wait for the next gig to play my little stack!

Agree with the suggestion for trying a vertical stack (mini/skinny fridge?). I've been using a pair of 2x10 cabs set up like that for a couple of years and it works really well that way. I'm also using two different cabs, but they share both the same resistance and power ratings and they've run together nicely.

That's why I got this GK cab, the height is within 1 inch of the width of the Ampeg combo so they neatly stack vertically.

It's a bit of a bump, but I do not think that the OP will mind.

I can happily confirm that this is a good pairing, vertically stacked looks and sounds good, and the jump from 280W to 450W is pretty major.
