GK fusion s issues. Anyone have this problem?

I finally had a minute to try the patch cable trick and it worked…… sort of. It was working great so then I thought I’ll unplug it and it will start distorting. Well it didint. Idk what to say. I’m using all the same cables and basses. Hopefully it doesint come back but idk. Thanks for all the replies and help offered.

What you say is no surprise at all. The effects return phone jack's shorting contacts' corrosion probably got slightly scraped away when you pulled the plug out. It may or may not come back. It's been a long term issue on my Tone Hammer 500, so I just say screw it and always run the amp with a short cable connecting the effects send and return jacks. One of those shorty pedalboard cables with right angle connectors would probably work fine for you if you don't want to make up your own cable. You could just leave it plugged in all the time and be done with the problem for good.

Oh, I should probably add that I once experienced intermittents when I left an instrument cable with no-name phone plugs plugged into my Precision. The Precision has a Switchcraft jack. So you might want to re-plug the send/return bridge cable every so often just as a preventative measure. I think this gets into the science of metallurgy, of which I have even less knowledge than how to design and build a floating silicon wafer manufacturing site. All I've done in that domain is push a toy sailboat out onto a pond at a municipal park when I was three years old, and that did not end well.

I tried the patch trick on mine and it seems to have solved it. However the issue was intermittent to begin with, so we'll see. But all yesterday I had no issues, so could be worth a shot.

I would except the MB112 doesn't have an effects send/return! It's quite bare bones. C'est la vie.

Also eliminate the dead battery in bass or old instrument cable that would cause same problems!

I have a GK fusion s 1200. It’s a little over 2years old. I usually run it with the bass boost on but it’s still at 12 to 1. Today it started to distort just on the b string, changed basses, cables, cabs, but still the same result. Unfortunately it’s out of warranty and I will take it somewhere. Just curious if anyone has ran into this.

It's my understanding that GK still services their newest models (Legacy, Fusion "S", etc.) at the California factory, still under warranty or not.
(Under warranty they cover it, out of warranty, you pay.)

It's their older models (MB's, RB's, ect.) that can no longer be serviced at the California factory and must be taken to a authorized GK service center.

Problems like these, I always do the connect-effects-send-to-effects-return test first thing.

Just put a known good patch cord from effects loop out to effects loop in.

Apparently (haven’t looked at the schematic) there is a bypass connection there when no cord/pedal is connected. These often oxidize and create various gremlins. The cord eliminates this pathway and creates another.

Too bad to hear GK won’t accept shipped out of warranty items. I live in Fresno and one reason I chose GK was the close proximity if I needed service. Close enough to drive I guess.
