GK garbage

A few people are trying tio create a problem that doesn't exist or has already been taken care of. GK is a good company, they stand behind their product and take care of problems as they arise. I can't say the same for a few other big companies.

I've never had any serious problem and I've used GK for many years.

I wouldn't say those of us that are having issues with our GKs are "trying to create a problem". I'm not speaking for anyone else but why would I want to create a problem with a piece of equiptment I use daily? Let me just clear up, from what I understand GK fixed this problem with the RB-II revisions. Thats why most people with RB-IIs are happy.

But, unfortunately, that leaves some of us with RB-I's left out. I also received an email about a "special offer" to fix my 700RB that has a problem which is considered a factory design flaw. I thought OK, special offer, I just pay shipping and they'll fix it. No, the special offer is essentially just short of the price of getting a used 700RB. To me, that is not fair for a problem that was not caused by me and/or misuse. Yes, the "fix" basically makes the amp brand new but it is the principle behind it. If it was determined that it was because I thrashed the amp, the by all means would I be willing to spend the cash.

Its all part of running a business. Where car companies realize there is an issue with their car, they make a recall and fix the problem free of charge. Its not the purchasers responsibility to go through the amp/car before purchasing to find the parts that are known to fail outside of warrenty. Let me also say, in no way am I knocking GK trying to imply they implemented parts knowing they would fail eventually (ex iPod and the battery). Its something you can't really find out until years down the road. BUT, I do think it is their responsibility to fix it if they determine it is a flaw in the design and construction of the amp.

As far as customer service, Daniel Elliot has been wonderful and greatly informative. When directly contacting GK, I recieved an email from a tech support guy which eventually took me 3 emails to get the correct forms even though the price he quoted me was $100 above what I was supposed to be charged. I also emailed the gentlemen who does the repairs twice and still have yet to hear back from him. That was probably almost a month ago.

Like I said, when I can dig up the cash, I'll eventually get the amp fixed. But, unfortunately, GK has been moved from being my main amp to a backup for me due to the fact that it has become unreliable and right now I think it makes more sense to put my money into a different brand.
