so i have a GK MB500 head which has a built in DI and a GK 410MBE-II cab. i went trough my pedals into my bass head and then using amicrophone cable with one XLR end plugged into the DI and 1/4" jack plugged into a 1/8" jack adapter and plugged that into my laptop's microphone input. ran cubase and couldn't hear anything. feels like a dumb question, but what im a doing wrong?

Bass to jack to adapter to input, do you hear anything?
If not it's time to select mic input in sound properties on your computer.

i tried again. with the head and without. both times the audio activity bar lighted up aswell as when i had nothing plugged in the mic input. but still, nothing can be heard.
also, start - control panel - sound and the mic audio activity bar reacts to noise.
how do i set cubase to hear my input?
i would really like to use my GK for this purposes.
