GK MB115 combo DI out question

Hey All,

*Sorry for the wall o' text.

I have question about using DI out on GK MB115 combo.

Yesterday we played a gig, and the sound guy had his own DI box, so he ran signal from my pedal board into his DI, as well as he ran pass-through from DI into my Combo. Then he took the his DI out (my pedals+bass) into PA. And, for some reason mic'ed up my combo, not sure why? This sounded terrific! I could hear all the effects i was using in the PA, as well as i could hear my combo behind me for extra monitoring.

Now with my question, if sound guy happens not to have the DI box, and i just run my pedals + bass into my combo passive input, and he uses the xlr cable from my combo's DI into PA - will that bypass all my pedal effects and everyone will hear only direct tone from my combo?
I really love the VT Bass pedal and always have it on (my main tone color), So it any one can answer, would be awesome!

Thanks!
