GK Neo 410.......I hate it

I cannot like this cabinet for the life of me. It is muddy as hell. No matter how I tweak my amps and basses the damn thing sounds terrible. A mash of low rumble with no discernible punch.

Anyone else have this type of trouble with this cab or am I doing something wrong.

I think I am going to sell it off and get a Fender Bassman Neo 410. I had the 810 and it was perfect.

You're not alone. A lot of people are not fans of the NEO 410 for that very same reason. The 212 is a much less muddy GK mid-sized cab. Or if you want to stick with GK and a 410 you could get an RBH, which sounds awesome but weighs nearly twice as much.

The GK Neo 410 is GK's bassiest cab. The 212 is more neutral and the 115 is more mid heavy.

I have a line on a Genz Benz UB410 for a great price. Anyone have any experience with them?

I don't find it muddy at all. Been gigging mine for a few years now. But, I also play stingrays which are pretty mid heavy. So, maybe the mid heavy stingray makes the mid scooped/bass heavy neo 410 work?

I used two MM Stingrays. An H and an HH that I ran through a GK MB Fusion 800 and it just did not do much for me. When I used the same amp with the same basses through the Fender Neo it was nice

The Fender Cabs have this way of making almost any bass sound good... I'm not sure what voodoo they do.

But my theory is holding true... Now when I go to check out cabs I take my head and my "most difficult" bass to make sure it has the sound I'm looking for.

The Genz is a damn good cabinet though.

I don't think OP is using his 410 in conjunction with a 115.
If he was, I'm pretty sure this thread would be twenty pages long by now

True. Also, ALL 410 [2x2—edited for clarity] cabinets sound muddy off-axis unless they are low-end starved by the user, IME.
Even then, up close, the high-midrange is mostly lost about 45 degrees off-axis.

No complaints here, all raves.
Only reason i sold it was to go lighter with a gk mb212

Wait, is the OP using a 410 and a 115? I'm confused...

It's approved TB wisdom that mixing of 10"s with 15*s cause indisdinct boomy sound that can't be EQ'd

I've done both vertical one dimensional and two dimensional 410s. In the post to which you are replying, I assumed the two dimensional array. In this discussion that is implicit because the GK Neo 410 is in the title of the thread.

N.B, I am only reporting my experience concerning off-axis spectra. YMMV.
