I've decided to upgrade my current gk rig which is a gk 4-10, J2 1-15, and an 800rb. I want to get a 2001rb with a 4-12 neo cab. Unfortunately I only have enough money to get one or the other. Does anyone have any suggestions?

i'm not actually sure. It's a very old model. It's not on the website. I'm thinking late 80's early 90's.
That, my friend, is a tough decision. I have a 2000rb and a neo 412 and I daresay I could not have one without the other. I say save cash, buy used, and get both
I would get the neo 412 and if you need more power you could get a power amp to drive the 412 and use the 800rb as a pre amp.
IMHO, you don't need a 2001RB-II to run a GK Neo 4x12. The 1001RB-II - which is reputed to get stoopid loud - should be more than sufficient.
Likewise, the GK Neo 4x12 is rated to be exceedingly efficient - as would be a pair of Neo 2x12s. Together, this combination should be able to blow the doors off.

true, but i can drive more eventual cabs with the 2001... and it has a killer OD section which I need.
I use a 2001rb and 2 neo 2/12 2's and I love it,....kicks butt for sure! You won't be sorry or lack for options later if you can manage to get that setup....
I'm very decided on it. It's not a question really of one or the other. I will be getting both eventually, but I need to know which would best serve me until i get both.
I would think you'd be pushing the 4x12 pretty hard with over 1000 watts. Isn't the 2001rb designed more for multiple cabs, like 2 or 4? Do you need that kind of volume? Maybe if you went with a 700RB-II and the 4x12 you could afford it now. I saw a pair of used 700RB-II at GC for about $325 used. I dont see too many used neo cabs yet.

I just bought a 700RB-II. I was concerned whether it'd have sufficient power to keep up with my very, very loud band, and was debating going with the 1001RB-II for additional power.
I definitely did not need the additional wattage of the 1001, let alone the 2001. I'm driving a Bergantino 610 with it and punching through walls.

I only know what I've read on talkbass, but speaker or cab wattage is not really a good indicator of what will make a speaker blow. I blew a 250 watt speaker with 180 watt amp at relatively low volume band practice.
