I played through one of those Sunn 18" cabs 2 weeks ago (house rig with a Peavey Mk VII head). Sounded really fat.

I currently own several 1x15's and a 4x12. Largest cabs I've used were the SVT 8x10, Acoustic 18 folded horn, and Kustom tuck and roll with 3 vertical 15's.

In one of my previous posts, do you see the 6x12 Aguilar rig w/the 1400 watt power amp? At the Cincy GTG a while back, one of the guys brought a Sunn 2000S amp with the Sunn 2x15 (w/JBL's)...that 180 watts was at least twice as loud as the 6x12 w/the 1400 watts running through it. Not sure what the magic is, but when you hear people talk about Sunn and how loud they are, they are NOT kidding!

Important thing to take away from this is that watts DO NOT equal volume...even the definition merely states that a watt is "the absolute meter-kilogram-second unit of power equal to the work done at the rate of one joule per second or to the power produced by a current of one ampere across a potential difference of one volt".

At a GTG about two years ago, I got to play briefly through this rig:

Not sure what all it was (he had both stacks running together), but the cab on the bottom had something like a 21" driver. Made his Aguilar 810 on the right seem tiny.

WAAAAAAAYYYYY too big for my purposes, but it was fun to try!

3200w?!?! at 18 - 50 hz ?!?!

Holy sh** batman! If anything is going to be capable of creating brown noise, its that mofo!

How did it sound? rumble all the guitar displays off their shelves and scare all the little kids huh?

Talk about overkill for a high school jazz band!! I think we rarely set either the channel or master gain knobs above 2. Anyway, that cabinet was 48" high x 24" deep x 24" wide, as I recall. When we had off-site concerts and festivals, I hauled it around - along with all the band's other equipment - in my mother's full-size Ford Club Wagon van.

I played through a Peavey 2x18 2x10 cabinet. Loved the sound, very warm on the bottom and crisp pon the top. Never had to move it myself, would have been a deal breaker. Loved the sound though. I don't remember ther head, a Peavey Mark 3 or 4 or something. Only 300 watts but it would rattle a room and I never got told I wasn't heard from the club patrons!

Well, I think it's a guitar cab. Thing is, it's extremely deep for a guitar cab. And it makes the tone extra bassy, no matter how you try to EQ it. So it kind of sucks for guitar sometimes. So I tried it with bass and the speakers are holding up fine and it sounds awesome. The company is Waller Amplification. Probably no more than 10 years old. Don't know what speakers are in it. There are no brand names or anything on the speakers just a few codes that turned up nothing last time I looked them up.
