Going down the memory lane ...

never tried that one (707)- but this thing sucked all my tone dry! I tried for some time to make it sound ok, but the only thing that helped was taking out of my system completely.

The 707 was my first (and last) foray into multi-effects, it was what I bought many years after the Roland CE-1, what a step down. I combined some effects on the 707, and it sounded great on guitar (Andy Summers type shimmering sound), but it caused the bass to peak and distort so as to be unusable.

I see more and more bassists using the zoom B3 .
I never tested it but always kept that prejudice that a zoom multi effect is horrible .... Then I realized why....
My first ever pedal was the Zoom 506 multi bass effect !!View attachment 797967

I think it was the worst pedal I ever had BUT it was the pedal that showed me the differences between fuzz and OD , phaser and Flanger ... Chorus ... And if I remember well it even had a compressor ....

What was your first pedal ?
How did it affect your pedal consumption ?
Anyone kept their first pedal ?
That was my first pedal also I liked it at the time because I didn't know any better. I have not done the multi effect thing since. The last setup I used was a bass wah with a boss bass overdrive and a DOD bass flanger. I am thinking about another multi now. We'll see.

My first pedal was a zoom pedal too, it had this fretless setting that I liked other than that it didn't last long.

Edit:

Found a pic of it but don't remember it being $200 since my dad bought it for me and he's that cheap.

My first pedal was a Boss CEB-3 Chorus. I can't say I've used it all that much, but it's good for what it does. My friend who was a guitarist told me that I should buy a chorus for bass first if I wanted a pedal. Knowing what I know now, I think he's full of it. I should have bought a compressor or an OD. In any case, I didn't buy pedals for a few years after, and bought a crybaby, korg pitchblack, and an EHX bass big muff pretty close to each other. Then I didn't buy any for years, and just recently bought a Two Notes Le Bass preamp. I tend to buy pedals in spurts.

My first bass "effect" was a Behringer Bass V-Amp (their multi effect amp/cab sim). It was okay as a way to play through headphones, but boy did it sound awful, I later realized. I still have it as a backup if my amp ever breaks.

My first actual pedal that I got specifically for bass (i was a guitar player first, and the orange boss distortion pedal was by first pedal of any sort) was Mr. Squishy. I'm not completely sold on it, never have been. Sometimes I like it, sometimes i can't stand it, right now i can't stand it. I don't know if I'll ever get rid of that pedal.

my first pedal was the BOSS ME-50B. they only thing I liked about it was the wah pedal used as a volume pedal for doing volume swells easily with my foot. Other than that, the effects on it were terrible.

My first pedal was a Boss CEB-3 Chorus. I can't say I've used it all that much, but it's good for what it does.

I have the same chorus pedal, I looked at more expensive ones, but decided this one was good for what I wanted, which was the 80's rock sound. It was the last pedal I bought, I went on a pedal spree in 2015. I sold 2 and bought 10..... I'm pretty much set on bass minus reverb, and I have the guitar basics; wah and tubescreamer(I have all tube guitar combo)

Just my personal opinion. .. FX and Bass playing should never be used on the same sentence!
