Good 4-8 track recorders?

Hello,
I am looking a small 4-8 track recording unit. I would use it to record song ideas so I dont forget them the next day, demos to get an idea of how they would sound, and also to show fellow musicians Im playing with to make the songwriting process smoother.

Any ideas? Brands to stay away from? Im trying to keep the cost low here, so keep that in mind. Any help appreciated.

The zoom MRS8 is a nice little unit. My band has used it to record some stuff. All the songs on Link Removedwere recorded on it with an SM 58. They were mixed on it too (apart from fall in the street that was done in a studio)

The quality on those tracks is suprisingly great.

I agree, the Zoom is pretty easy to use and has drums,fx and a burner, plus if you're on a budget, you can run it with phones or out of your sterio.



Btw; I do reccoment a couple of real good flat studio monitors, even small ones, they will help you pick up any sound imperfection you might want to change or edit.
