Good acoustic/electric bass?

MOST luthier type shops will also carry this battery door -- it's a common piece.

I actually spoke with Mark Sharp at MK this afternoon, after I brought it home. He asked that I email him a photo (the same one here). I hope I misunderstood him when he said that little piece of plastic would run about $18 (plus $6 shipping). Seems a bit excessive. If that's the case, I might try to fabricate my own piece.

Is a Fishman a direct replacement for the Shadow? Are you suggesting that I could replace the whole unit with a Fishman? If I go that route, hopefully it will be a unit with a tuner, and only after deciding for certain to keep it, as I don't really know how much I'll play an AEBG.

I bought a Fender Kingman Bass and love it. Great feeling neck and sounds nice plugged in.

Ok... so my band was just offered an acoustic gig in Barnes and Noble on my college campus. Perfect opportunity to own an acoustic bass! Say we up the price ran to $600 or so. Would people still suggest the same basses? Ibanez? And is a Breedlove really worth the $800+?

To answer your last question....YES! you can get them cheaper used....I was really wanting one but could not some up with the cash....

I spent some quality time with several Breedloves and liked them alot!

another "medium/expensive" acoustic is a Rick Turner..I played one last sumemr and cannot get it out of my mind but they are like $1000 or so used and $1300+ new...

So....I went a little more "cost concious" and bought a Michael Kelly 5 string - should be here next week!

As it turns out, I'm not really much of an acoustic guy. I played it only enough to not feel guilty about not playing it enough. I sold it locally for $225, which isn't bad for a few months use and a $90 investment.

On the upside, I put that dough towards my new Lakland Duck!

So I just came across Tacoma acoustic basses? Anyone ever used these? The porting intrigues me. Then again, I'm not sure I like how it looks... hmm.. A sexy sound could change my mind though!

IMO, the Tacoma is going to be one of the loudest if not the loudest while playing straight acoustic (no amp). I have jammed with 2 acoustic guitars at a good volume and have had no problem keeping up. If you feel comfortable using a pick, and will also add more volume. I have one that one used by a nashville touring artist, and this thing is BEAT TO HELL, still plays great, no problems with the neck-electronics. I would definitly reccomend
