Good Altern. bass?

I use a P generally for alternative stuffwith a Jazz as a backup (A Jazz works almost as well).

Your definition of alternative and mine may be different... but I am currently using a P to play Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Buckcherry, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Social Distortion, etc.

You definitely need to buy a new bass. A bass that's good for metal would never work in alternative. You should probably also invest in a bass good for indie.

LOL:D

Seriously though, when I think alternative, I think P-Bass first, Jazz second and for some reason Gibson Grabber/Ripper third. (dont ask, I have no idea why).

To the OP-what bass do you have that you consider good for metal and why do you think it would not work for alternative?

I own 6 basses and I grab whatever one I feel like using regardless of what style music I'm playing at that moment.
The only exception is that I HAVE to pick up a 5 string if the song requires it. (I cant hit a low B on a traditional EADG 4 string no matter how hard I try! :p )
