Good Deal?

Hello all,
I have the opportunity to buy this Squier P-bass special for $150. Is this a good deal for this bass. Also, the seller has an identical bass with a black headstock, pick guard, and body. Did Squier make a model with this combination? All I can find is one with a chrome pick guard. Any input on the quality, sound or play ability of these basses is welcomed.

Thanks in advance :)

I'm quite biased towards the P-Bass Specials. I have two, the first of which is "that very special one" that pushed me into buying my very first bass. There are several threads discussing why I, among many others, really REALLY dig this axe.

That being said, on the cost front, it's a great deal. As long as everything works fine, you're in great shape. The only downside is the pickguard. If you like the white, no sweat. If you don't, you're gonna have a hard time getting a replacement that fits. It's the older 14-hole guard which they no longer make. My second PBSpecial had one like it so, I tried getting a Mighty Mite 14-hole precision pickguard, but it still didn't fit. I would've had to grind out some of the neck pocket AND drill a few new holes. Too much bother, so I repainted it.

Ultimately though, the pickguard is mostly a cosmetic issue. Like I said, if you don't mind the plain white guard, you're good.
