good headphones?

preferrably closed - i was looking at HD-25s but it's a little outside of my need and price range. i'll basically be using it to listen to samples and music for recording, and i'd like something that sounds clear and is reliable.

I purchased the Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs. They are a closed set with great range. Price point was $129.99 cnd before taxes. I've used them on my Mackie boards, home theater, PC, Ipod and my amateur radio gear. I would class them at a good mid range unit with great bank for the buck performance wise.

Pardon me if I'm being an idiot, as I have no clue about headphones, but if you stop by any GameStop/EB Games, and you don't mind earbuds, look for the Headbanger earbuds by Pelican. I bought a pair to listen to music on my PSP, and they have an incredible bass sound (and altogether sound), as good as some of the high-end buds my friends have, for just about 20 bucks. But look specifically for the ones with the big, boxy amp attached - the other kind works only on the PSP. The recent models work on everything.

If you're looking for some of those big, foamy headphones, I recall Rondo having some for about twenty bucks as well. I can't attest to their quality, though, but I generally trust Rondo.
