Good jazz bass?

I'm looking at getting a passive jazz with more of a vintage sound. What would be some options I could look at?

I have a great 2015 Am deluxe jazz, though it is quite modern sounding. In passive mode, it still has the blend rather than 2 pickup volume which I think impacts my tone options.

I aim to put flats on it and muting foam. Also not adverse to changing put the pickups if needed.

Just put a set of standard wind fralins in it. done.

The bass I use for this type of sound and setup is a Gherson. It's an old 70s J bass made in Italy. Somehow they've flown under the radar of most of the "lawsuit era" guitars so you can pick them up for a very good price if you find them.

i'd swap out the pups to something more vintage sounding before laying out cash for another bass, if it plays well. But who am i to say not to buy another bass
