Good OD Under $100 (Not fuzz)

Is there such a thing out there? I'm playing through a GB 9.0 with their Neo 212. Not really getting the bluey notes I want through tweeking the EQ - is there a decent OD (not fuzz or distortion) out there to add some tubular color to this set up? I pefer a more low down bassy tone.

Off the top of my head I'd recommend a used Ibanez TS9B if you can find one. I've tried one once. To me the key to the "bluesy" sound is dynamics, from that soft sweetness to the ballsy, organic light crunch that can get aggressive and really speak. In my opinion, the TS9B did a good job of that. Tried the Fulltone Bass-Drive before as well and to me that one didn't seem as dynamic.

Look for a used Hard Wire Tube Overdrive. I got mine for about $50! This pedal works well for bass IMHO. It is like a much much much better version of the Bad Monkey including a true bypass when it is turned off, and a mod switch that changes the voicing.

another vote for the CM-2 Tube Overdrive. It has separate hi and low controls, and it can REALLY crank out the lows. It's pretty warm and driven.

Digitech Hardwire CM-2. It's like a Bad Monkey, only 10 times better and doesn't suck your low end out.

+1 for the Hardwire Tube OD CM-2. I've seen mmbongo going nuts about spreading the word on this thing all over TB, figured I'd give it a try.. I have to say, for the $50 I got it for, it's doing more than enough for my OD tone. It's almost becoming an always on pedal! I got mine for $50, but it seems that standard street price I've seen is around $99. I'd probably go used if I were you.

Great lows, true bypass, can go from very subtle to very saturated and aggressive, and the Classic mode seems to have some sort of clean blend going on. Makes for a very nice sound that can do what you're looking for, and more!

side note: huge thanks to mmbongo! wouldn't have even considered this pedal if it wasn't for all his positive reviews about it
