I've been looking at the option of playing my bass guitar through my computer. I'm unsure as to whether this would be the best solution. Basically a)I'm looking to sell my amps/cabs for a bit more space b) I don't like the sound out of my current setup c) I only ever play along to tracks in my bedroom (I don't gig or anything like that).
I'm a big fan of Davidsinrocks off youtube, and for his videos he just seems to use an external soundcard. I know this is slightly different as he does this for recording purposes, but could this be just as effective for just playing bass along to tracks?
I've read that one issue can be latency, if I get a good enough soundcard would this still be a problem?
I've also heard that I may need to have a DI aswell?
I have a reasonably good pair of headphones (Audio-technica ATH m50x), so I'm hoping my bass would sound good enough through them.
