Google Earth YIKES!!!!

The Google Earth pictures are at least two years old. AFAIK - it hasn't been updated since it was rolled out.

Not so fast. The aerial view of my neighborhood is less than three months old. I can tell this from a construction project near my house that is done now, but the Google Earth view is when it was only framed up.

Jive......exactly. The technology surely allows real time viewing right now, but it won't be available to the public for a few more years. By then, they'll be on to some other cool technology we now nothing about right now, but they do.

A couple years ago, I did the drywall on a house for a guy who claimed he worked for the FBI until he retired. He could have been lying, but I did not get that vibe. Anyway, he was explaining to me how the technology they use is sometimes five and ten years ahead of what the general public has access to. Sounds reasonable to me.

Great stuff to explore your bombing target......if you are a terrorist... :scowl:
Thats a pretty dumb thing to say! Unclassified spatial data is publically available under Freedom of Information Acts.

I work for what was then the Department of Land Administration in Perth. Years ago one of our officers took a call from a gentleman with a middle eastern accent requesting the spatial co-ordinates for the Bankwest tower, the QE-II building, Dumas House (govt. building) and some others govt. buildings along Hay Street and an adjacent block.

Under our Freedom Of Information acts, the officer was obliged to provide the information over the phone. No questions asked.

Dumb? I don't think its dumb. Its just making it easier for the bad guys. There are cameras in crowded areas and if the bombers explore the area on foot, they can be identified. But all they need to do is click on the google earth and BAM! 3d map of your target without getting suspicion.

Maybe I'm a little nervous as we are being threatened by 2 different terrorist groups (PKK and Queida) and some of the terrorists was captured with bombs, some are still free.Oh also I live in the best target city in Turkey. :hmm:

Just make your face all blurry... Or constantly wear a ski mask... :D

I say get one of these, like this family did.

Think man!

Yes, I agree you may be a little nervous, and I certainly understand why!!!!

But in this situation I feel you're jumping to a silly conclusion.

Any such threat would come from a simpler enemy:
Common or organised crime gangs.

I'm sitting here looking over New Jersey seeing who owns how big a house, a pool, cars and the like and Oh, I just found Soulgeezers house through the phone book too now I have the address and number to call when he is not home etc etc.

This is a tool more suited to common crimes than terrorism since unfortunately the "intelligence" capability (for want of a better word) for terrorism is a lot higher than having to rely on a publically produced map!!!

But you're right, terrorists are just common scum criminals so fall into that same ilk only worse!!!!

Peace brother I hope we ferret all them criminals out :)
