I'm fairly new to double bass and am looking for a good preamp / HPF for my Lemur Laguna with a realist soundclip pickup. I'm looking into a Grace Audio ALIX ($500 used) or a Radial AC Driver ($175 used), any opnions on which would be the best match for me / my bass / pickup? I play mainly worship, Americana, and folk. I would consider the BOX, but it doesn't have a HPF or phase switch. I haven't found any threads directly comparing the two of these.

Thanks!

Radial is good stuff - I have a boxful of their products in my PA rig, and I used a PZ-Pre on bass for a while.
But the Grace Alix is a very sweet piece of gear. Features I love:
- loads of clean gain
- adjustable Lo freq filter that's either HPF or Notch
- fully parametric midrange - 3 knobs plus hi/lo range switch
- Mute and Boost switches
- 3-way switchable input impedance - I can hear the difference when I select the right one for my pickup
- mains power with a proper IEC plug (100-240V) (no wall-wart)
- 9V output to power my fx pedals.
