Graphics Card Temp

So, when i was dusting out my computer, i decided it would be a GREAT IDEA to remove the Heatskink (not voiding the warranty, mind you, the sticker remains unbroken.) so, i take it off, blow the dust out, and put it back on, and then get told that I need to reapply the thermal goop. Oops.

it currently idles at 43 deg. C, which I think is too high, but I might be wrong. People tell me that fine, but I'm a neurotic freak. it gets up to like 50-something when I play Spore, but hasn't gone much further than that.

I guess it's fine, but do I still need to reapply the thermal goop stuff?

Wow, 50 degrees C? My old graphics card ran at between 80 and 95 degrees when playing demanding games (it claimed several times that it was over 110 degrees on hot days, but I figure that to be wrong). The one I got now runs at 60. What are you complaining about?

If you didn't wipe the goop off when you took it off, then no i wouldn't worry about it...but if you are putting a heatsink bare onto the cpu, i would get some. its only like 2 bucks...well, unless you go to worst-buy...

although i see the title that says graphics card heatsink....i dont know much about newer graphics cards...i didn't think you could take the heatsink off a GC..

Nothing, just wondering. I'm neurotic about things like this.

After playing spore, max temp (according to HD Monitor, great little program by the way) was 55 deg. C.

I guess that's fine.

Mines running at 35*C right now  At that's with th fan at 50%. 40-50*C is nothing to worry about at all, but it will raise the temperature of everything else with how much it's warming up the air...
You can get Arctic Silver 5 from Radioshack, that stuff works wonders! $10 for a little tube, but it's worth it. Throw some on your CPU too.
