Great 80's Thrash Albums

Hmmm not heard of them! Consider myself a bit of a thrash connoisseur too. When were they around? One album band? Worth checking out?
There was a group called Atrophy that put out a couple of albums around the time I was 16 or 17 (1989-ish) that I remember being really f'n good. (Of course, I was 17 at the time & haven't heard it since then, so nowadays it may not bear intense scrutiny, but back then I remember loving one of those albums).

There was another one. "Violent something or other". The cover looked like a Quiet Riot album.

4. Slayer - 'Hell Awaits,' 'Reign in Blood' 'South of Heaven,' and 'Seasons in the Abyss'

Wow, no mention of Helstar yet. Their third one, "A Distant Thunder" is my favorite,and its like a precursor to early Symphony X. Combines thrash, Iron Maiden and neo-classical.

Wow - I am really getting detached from the genre labeling. I always considered Thrash an LA thing and regarded the Chili Peppers some of the LA Ska derivative bands as within that genre. But, here I see a bunch of bands listed that I would have simply considered Heavy Metal. Guess one can learn something every day...
