Great Drummer Moving to Las Vegas

Hi all - not quite sure where best to post this, so if Mods have a better suggestion feel free to move! There's a young guy in my city who is moving to LV, I thought I'd post some info here in case anyone in the region wants to get in touch with him. Great player in his late twenties - can play any style, great dynamics, can sing also. He's a genuinely nice person too, and very reliable. Definitely not the stereotype of the many "drummer jokes" here on TB. There are many drummers in this town but not many that I would call if I needed a drummer and he's one of the few. Sorry to see him go. Out of respect for his privacy, I won't put his contact info here but if interested, pm me and I'll pass his contact info along.

How versatile is he(i.e. even if he’s a killer rock player, could he handle jazz?), then…what style of music is he deeply all about?

From my experience, he's very well-rounded and technically very competent- I've heard him play funk, swing, blues, rock. I don't know him well enough to know what music style he likes the best. I play in a band with the best drummer in the region (he teaches full-time and plays everything from rock to classical percussion) and he has been referring work to this guy.

I only talked to him briefly and it was in a noisy environment - what I know is that his mom and brother have both moved there, he wanted to be in a place with more musical opportunities, I don't know what his goals are other than to seek better opportunities. I live in a small (60K) western Colorado community with limited musical opps except in the summer months.

If he's looking for opportunities as a gigging musician, I'd imagine the LV scene is a tightly-controlled, highly-competitive market. If he's truly serious, he needs to do his legwork now.

*Join the AFM if not already a member.
*Brief yet fully representative audition / performance clips.
*Contact as many promoters / booking agents / AFM local as possible.

That's just for starters. Probably have the door slammed in his face 19/20 times but that's show biz!

Sidenote: my extended family lives in GJ or thereabouts. Linda Susan is the admin manager at Telluride Airport.

Worst case scenario: if he ends-up a first call performer, they'll work him to death. Agent / promoters like quick, easy, and available. The video is essential, as well, and you have ~3 minutes to show-off every genre known to man. I'd be interested to see how this turns out over the next 12 months.

I’ve asked him to keep me updated. Nobody knows the value of a really good, reliable drummer better than us bass players 😎

There's tons of opportunities here and it's really easy to play gigs.

Sean is one of my influences, he's so great. Coincidentally, one of the drummers I sometimes work with has also worked with Sean, this dude Mike. He played with Bowie and The Cure too. And when he shows up to a gig he brings nothing more that a kick, a snare, hi-hats and one cymbal. He keeps it so simple but his feel his among the best. And he's one of the busiest musicians I know.
