Great headless basses?

Cheap they are not, but I don't think that have not seen any builder who pays more attention to the smallest detail. Both in terms of desaign and construction. They are THAT good - if their style of bass is your cup of tea.


...and it does say 'great' in the title of this thread :)

I don't doubt it at all and didn't mean to imply otherwise. Just with exchange, shipping and duties, I doubt I'd get much change from $A10k which is a lot for me. My last s/h Alembic Series was 1/3 of this, and I could get a couple of new Statuses for that.

I think that thsi is a LOT of money for most people. No?:)
Yes, there most certainly are less pricey and still very good basses out there .

I owned a Westone Rail years ago. I wish I never sold it. Currently rocking the strandberg in my avatar. I know a lot of people think they're overpriced, but look at the way prices are going these days! It's not overpriced at all. I'm surprised it doesn't get much love around here.

Oh, yes. Direct xch rate is $US6k which a lot of people would say is a lot of money for a single instrument. I know there are plenty that are even more expensive, but so...

Strandberg makes a decent one, though it's ridiculously expensive.

Modulus made 2 versions of a headless bass. The bass Phil Lesh played for years was a no model only 2 made for Phil has both. The 2 they produced were the Flight 4SP (only 15 to 20 were made) and the Monocoque (fully 1 piece graphite neck thru) of which about 10 were made. I have a 4SP. Great sounding bass. Looks like a space rocket.
Here is a picture of mine. My brother was kind enough to fix the jack for me.

Lafey are really nice guys and I am glad they are doing well!
I'm sure anyone who spends that kind of money on an instrument will have done their reserch and get an amazing bass!

Agreed but there’s something about the CR lines that outshines the NXTA. Ended up selling the NXTA (which btw have terrible resale value) so it’s best to keep an eye out for the CR lines. If you like a straight forward passive headless bass with a slight bump of headroom when you engage the super capacitor then go for it!

Quite honestly though the CRs are totally worth the expense if you were to go the $3k route but I’d be extremely patient as I picked one up 3 years ago for $1300 on eBay!
