Greetings from Texas

Hey everyone I am a new member from College Station, TX (1 hr from Houston, home of Texas A&M Univ.). I stumbled across TB browsing for basses for sale... I can't believe I've never found this place before I look for used basses online all the time.

For my equip, I play a 1997 Fender American Deluxe J-Bass 5 string Fretless, shes a real beauty and sounds awesome. About 3 weeks ago I got Victor Wooten to sign the headstock (see pics below).

I want to get a G&L L-2000 soon, so maybe I will find one here.

I am a bass equipment nut, I wish I spent more time learning to play better than looking at basses, but sometimes I can't resist. I want to learn as much as possible from you guys (I know next to nothing about pedals and what they all do, and I would like to expand my knowledge of bass preamps and various signal processors).

Been playing for about 2 years self taught, not in a band but would like to be eventually, but I gotta work on my music theory before I do. I do have a decent slap technique for a relatively new self-taught player, but when it really comes down to it I'd rather be playing fretless!

Where was the signing??

<-Jealous.

My brothers and I all attented Texas A&M, one just graduated last month with a degree in Petroleum Engineering...

I'm in Houston this weekend and live down in Corpus...

Howdy pad-na!

We're sorta south of you....110 miles down 59 out of Houston.
If you ever get to the Austin area(105 miles from you?), make sure you check out Bass Emporium( [This invalid link has been removed] ). He sometimes has great folks in for clinics also(Invalid Link Removed.

Nice meeting Vic!!!:hyper:

Thanks for the welcomes!

gt40: Yeah I'm graduating in December hope to stay for a masters in real estate, then law school somewhere else... too much school ahead :(

This particular time I met him right after a Soul Circus concert, he just came out and walked around the lobby and signed stuff. He is actually very good about that. The flecktones almost always come back out to the front of the stage after their shows and meet and greet the audience. In fact, I talked to Vic again this last Saturday at a Flecktones show in Dallas, literally only a few weeks after I got him to sign my bass. So far I've talked to him 3 times. He is a real cool guy and appreciates his fans, and the only times I've seen him and not gotten to talk to him were at huge shows where it just wasn't feasible (Bonnaroo Flecktones set, Soul Circus opening for Dave Matthews at a huge amphitheater). Just wait around a little after you see him and you will get to meet him if its at a smallish venue.

Johnny: I've heard about bass eporium but unfortunately I have not had a chance to go yet. I go down to Austin all the time to see concerts, I'll make it a point to check it out next time I am down there.
