Greetings and hello, all.
My name's Rick, and I've been noodling around with a bass or two on and off since I was a senior in high school. I'm 34 now, and have finally decided to get serious with my practice. I've been at it for a couple of weeks so far and so I figured it was time to stop lurking on the forum and say hi.
I'm a lefty, if the moniker didn't give it away. I play a left-handed '98 Fender P-bass and an Alembic Epic (I snagged that one on a clearance rack for a fraction of the list price). My amp's a Peavy 2x10 combo, just enough oomph for a garage.
I'm not in a band at the moment, I'm more interested in focusing on actually practicing rather than trying to stumble through a few songs with other folks just yet. (I did that once many years ago, my rythm was so bad I had a bad habit of adding a 5th beat in 4/4!)
So, while I like listening to Wooten and Claypool's independent stuff and yadda yadda yadda, nailing those scales is more my current musical inspiration, sprinkled with learning some easy Beatles tunes like Eight Days A Week. Oh yeah, and playing in 4/4 and not adding a 5th beat.
