Guys,

This is my first attempt at posting a sound clip. It's a very simple groove that I hope all of you can play along with and post new clips;)

I hope that Greg doesn't mind me putting the link in his forum. I would've put it in the Sound clips forum but I don't own a Roscoe.

I cut this with my Fender Jazz (USA):spit: Clint!
With a Brand new Set of Cleartone Nickel Strings (Thanks Jerry);)
Line 6 Bass Pod Pro XT Custom Mesa Boogie Setting
Tascam 2488MKII
and Boss DR-550

So without further adue
GROOVE WITH ME

At least now you guys will know I'm not a Troll (just a smarta$$) and I can actually play (a little);)

:D
God Bless, Ray

Aww Shucks!:D

I'm hoping some of you guys will take my foundation and lay something really fat down over it and post it again.

Can you import mp3 into the BR 600 Greg?

I'd bet a fretless solo over the clip would be smokin'!

:D

God Bless, Ray

Sure, I'll play! Here I've added some comping chords.

So who should we tag for the solo? Let's see... fretless? solo? setup to record? Smells like Jerry, Billy or Joe to me!! Or anyone else for that matter! Come one, come all. Dueling fretless bass solos is never a bad thing :bassist:

OK, wait, that's almost ALWAYS a bad thing... :help:

I can break these parts out as separate WAV files for anyone who cares to play along and wants more control over the mix...

So Ray - do you tune down a half step, or are you just a fan of A flat? :ninja:

And hey Ray - if you'll send me just the bass part (kill the drums), I can dress this clip up even more. A little compression did wonders for it, but I was compressing both the drums and the bass simultaneously and that is not always to the advantage of the bass part.

Yessir I tune down;) My Pop's Vocal range fits better.

I'll get ya the Nekked bass track manana;) Mine is bumping through the studio monitors but not so much through my laptop.

I used a slight amount of Compression through the Bass Pod but I didn't add anything through the 2488.

If I could solo worth a bag of beans , I'd lay sumpin' down but you guys are much better at it.

:D

God Bless, Ray

Yeah, Ray, yeah! Nice groove, and the bass sounds great. Score another victory for the Cleartones - they sound fantastic on your bass...nice and full, with a bit of grease to go with the snarl! And check out what Greg "Quincy Who?" did with the chords. NICE.

Thanks man!:D I agree, the Cleartones are my favorite string I've tried so far on the Jazz. They've got the Jazz sounding a lot more even across the spectrum. Before the Cleartones it had a huge hole in the midrange that they fill nicely IMO.

Now we need that Roscoe Fretless to add the icing on the cake;)

I'll remaster the track shortly to get Greg the nekkid bass part, so we can see how much lipstick we can stick on this pig.

:D

God Bless, Ray

OK, how do you import mp3's into the BR-600? I want to try to play along.

Hey, Fred,

The BR-600 can import WAV files, but not MP3s. You can either convert the MP3 file to WAV, or here it is.

As for how to do it... good luck!! :hiding:

Jerry's done it, so we know it's possible. I'm just not sure on the how. Sorry!!

Get down with yo' bad self LilRay!

I really like the tone too. I'll have to try a set of those Cleartone strings.....they really have a clear tone!:D

Joe, those Clear Tone strings do not sound good on a Roscoe! I have tried them on two different Roscoe basses and for some reason the mids just sound funky. I put them on a passive Yamaha bass and they sounded pretty good.

There is simply no way I could disagree more. If they offered a six-string set I'd be rockin' them on my myrtle bass in a second. Maybe it's an electronics thing, but on my Bart/Aguilar fretless they make the bass sound like $2 million (it only sounded like $1 million before), and on the Bart/Bart SKB fiver I've heard with them, they sound just as good.

Well here ya go Greg,

Lets just see how much lipstick can go on this pig;)

Perfect timing! I just got some lead and rhythm tracks from Danny - I decided to bring in a ringer :)

I'll see what I can construct from all this raw material! Should sound great when all is said and done. And I'm leaving a hole for Fred or Jerry to lay a bass solo on it, dagnabit!!
