GT-10B and Windows 7 problem

The problem being there is no driver. Theres a driver for 64 bit windows 7 and the GT-10, but not the GT-10B, and the way it works means you to have plug in said pedal to complete install, so I can't install one for the other.

If anyones got this to work, please let me know how :D

EDIT: I just want to use Gt10bFxFloorboard editor, the editor on the thing is really tedious!

Aye I tried the gt-10, as I mentioned earlier it requires that you plug the GT-10 into the computer, however being a GT-10B it doesn't register. Interestingly the creator of the fxpedal editor software claims his update makes it work for windows 7, so there must be a way. I've e-mailed boss but no reply yet.

If the underlying driver code is the same for both you could edit the device IDs in the driver .inf file to make it pick up the GT-10B when you plug it in, but this is very fiddly and not guaranteed to work! I can download the files and take a look later if you want to give it a shot.

It's funny because the drivers for my Pod XTL are pretty glitchy with Windows 7 as well. You can use Gearbox and Edit and run it like it you normally would, it's just that it tends to randomly crash the system to a 'memory dump blue screen' that reboots the pc.
It could be a couple of hours, could be a few minutes, basically a crapshoot if you're going to try and record something.

I'd really like a working driver for windows 7 too. I emailed Boss a couple of weeks ago - they haven't got any plans to release a windows 7 driver.
I currently use windows 7 64bit and would also really love it to have a working driver for the excact same reasons as OP.
dannybuoy, if you know how to solve this, I'd really aprieciate your help. a workaround is better than no driver.

At this time, we do not have any information regarding when, or if, they plan to release them.

By the way, I've been getting into this pedals features with the way you're MEANT to and I'm absolutely floored by how much it can do, and how good it sounds doing it.

There's 2 things to try:

Mod the GT-10 Windows 7 driver to pick up the GT-10B:

Open the file RDIF1076.INF and change USB\VID_0582&PID_00DA to USB\VID_0582&PID_00DC.


Mod the GT-10B Vista driver to install on Windows 7

I'm not 100% sure how to do this correctly without being able to do a bit of trial and error, but if you open RDIF1077.inf and make change the Windows NT version to v6.1 it might work:

Both of these techniques could either work, not work, or potentially crash your computer since you're forcing things to install that aren't designed to work together. You shouldn't cause any disasters that can't be undone, but try this at your own risk!

If you get a crash or blue screen of death, hold F8 while booting to go into safe mode and run the uninstaller. If the uninstaller does not work properly then delete RDWM1076.SYS and/or RDWM1077.SYS from your C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder and reboot.

The Vista 64 driver works on Windows 7, you may need to run the installer in Vista compatability mode to initially install it, but after that, it should run fine.
You can let me know (email from the GT-10BFxFloorBoard address) if there is still a problem, and i will do as i did for the GT-10, made my own 64 bit driver and released it, 2 weeks later Boss released their own ones.
The GT-10 driver does not work on the GT-10B with mods as described above, change the text from 10 to 10B and copy the device USB I.D from the 32 bit driver.

Awesome! The man himself speaks! I did a search for vista 64-bit and found it on the boss website, interesting! I'll give it a crack tomorrow when I wake up, it's 3:45 AM here and I need sleep real bad haha.

And I can't wait to use your program!

OK first..
Don't plug in the USB cable yet or else the install will eternally fail.

Download the GT-10B Vista 64 driver from Roland.com

Extract/unzip the package files.

right click on 'Setup' from the unzipped package and select 'troubleshoot compatability'.

select 'The program worked with previous versions...."
and select "The program requires additional permissions". Then select 'NEXT'.

select "Windows Vista", then Next..

select "Start the Program".

let the install do it's thing, and now plug in the USB cable with the GT-10B switched on when prompted to.

driver install completed !!

now on the GT-10B press "SYSTEM" and scroll >>> to "USB, from the USB menu, select "advanced Driver" mode and restart the GT-10B.

Your Librarian or Editor application is now ready to start, from the application midi menu, select the "Boss GT10B" as the midi device, and you are ready to go....:hyper:
