GT Status Series 4 string bass guitar

I just bought this bass guitar in Qld, Australia on Facebook for $160. I have done a google search and I can not find any information on it at all. Can anyone tell me anything about it ? ?
Like what year it was made ? ?
And what it would of cost brand new ? ?

On the head it says: GT Guitar Technology
and on the headstock, it has a metal plate screwed on that says: Status Series

I've seen one before down here, but it had nothing on it that gave me any idea who made it or when. Probably just a start up that was made under contract in one of the many generic Asian factories over the decades. If it plays fine and sounds decent, leave it at that. Make up a story about it to impress others.
The only negative with it if it plays fine, is it might be hard to onsell later as the name has no cache. In that case keep it as a backup or beater.

It sounds awesome.
I rang the guy at the guitar store and he reckons from what he could remember was that these were around the $1000 mark about 5to 10 years ago.

I would love to here from someone that owned one or could give me some credible details.

I have 2 early Ashtons a bass and a super Strat. Both owe me $250 total and the bass was new in '02 when I got it. Both are really well made using decent but not great parts, though nothing has broken. Ashton were trying to make a name in the market with these and they were overbuilt for the price, but nothing happened for them, so I got the bass cheap on clearance. The guitar came recently and though a similar vintage, it stayed on epay for months before I made an offer for $100 that was accepted; their later stuff is nowhere near as good, so they're thought of as cheap junk, so no sale. In reality the old models are great.

My point is yours likely has a similar brand story. It'll be interesting to see if any info is forthcoming. Your bass looks vaguely Ibanez SR shaped.
