Guitar Center Black Friday

So far they have 15% off on friday and 10% off saturday and sunday listed on the site along with some specific items. 15% off a new Squier or Standard combined with the free fender gig bag or hard case would be a solid deal. Anyone spot any steals yet?

But Fender is one of the exclusions. Most everything is on the exclusion list.

So basically, you can get a set of picks or a mic stand for 15% off. Yay..

I've had GC managers offer up an unsolicited 15% discount on both Fender and EBMM basses without having a coupon. If they have something you like, just ask.

+1! I asked a GC rep if a GK head was on sale and he said no but he would make it on sale. I'm sure the 15% could be had on most gear but their sales sure aren't what they use to be. I remember Rock Basses for 100$.

I've never had good deals from my local guitar center. I usually never purchase anything from there unless its a quick pack of strings. I did go in one time to get a couple switchcraft output/input jacks and they had a price tag of $12.99 each allparts company. I was like ***?? Their like 3 bucks online, and he says, really from where?? I said, from the that company!! Allparts. He says...wow thats good. :eyebrow: And I left...

Nevertheless, their coupons if it even applies to the long list of popular brand exclusions, just knocks off the taxes. I usually order from music123/musiciansfriend. No taxes, usually free shipping.

That is why you do not get good deals from them. I get GREAT deals from the GC's in my area because I spend money there and I take the time to become friends with the managers & employees. Would you give a deal to someone with a bad attitude? All you had to do is be nice and ask for a price match and they would have sold it to you for that price.

Yeah, I used to be a Guitar Center fan... I can't seem to find anything good there anymore. The basses section is really weak, only the usual Fenders, a few Music Mans, a good number of Ibanezes and the starter packs. I think they only carry like 6 or 7 brands of basses. And I recently visited a couple of their stores in California, same brands, but a few more basses per brand. I might stop by on Black Friday just because, but I am not keeping my hopes up.

EDIT: While the nice sales people usually don't stay long in my local store, the manager is a really nice person and always makes things work for me there. The whole chain strategy is what is hurting them.

Every GC is different bro. I live near the mexico border ;) One store could have cool peeps, and another can just say, sorry man the price shown is the least I can do. Nevertheless, I guess I'm just an online purchaser.

Not to distract from the GC bashing, but in case anyone is interested, I just used the GC 15% off coupon to get 20% off a Crown XLS 1500 from Music 123. Used the online price match, and got a quote back immediately. They didn't even mention that the GC coupon doesn't start until Friday. $320 shipped for the Crown -- pretty decent price.

How did you get the coupon to register with their price match?

Just use the price match link on Music 123, put in the price of the product on the GC site less 15%, and then say in the comments that the price you put in is with the GC Black Friday coupon. That's what I did and they immediately sent me back a quote for 20% off the listed price.
