A day trip to Guitar Center, Nadines rare guitars, and Tower records was like a pilgrimage for us dirty nosed farm boys from out of town back then.
Once and awhile you'd even see big name players shopping there.
I lived there for awhile & the day-trips didn't stop for me, you could see stars shopping on Melrose as well, or go have a drink at the Rainbow & belly up beside someone you've seen in concert.
GC in Hollyweird was actually The First guitar shop I was in, at the time I didn't play, but it was still quite cool, including the Rock Walk out front.
At the time they had some 'showpiece' guitars hanging from the ceiling, but they stopped doing that at some point.

The nearest GC is right next to Sam Ash, so either way I still have to drive 100 miles to a big store.
