Guitarist Attitude

Having typical trouble with a guitarist. YOU must have patience with HIM when he's walking you through an idea, but it's ok for HIM to be impatient when you're walking him through something. YOU have to just play through it and figure it out when he's taking you through an idea in a jam situation, but HE stops and gets all miffed when he doesn't know exactly where you're going. Etc, etc, etc . . .

Does this ever end? Does the attitude never cease? Why are they such d*^%s?

It might be just his personality coming through. You might have bigger problems in the future. Warn him and tell him what he is doing. If he doesnt try to change his attitude, sack him. Try to find someone whos a very good person/friend. Its easier for someone to improve on guitar than to improve as a person.

Most of these issues get worked out by the time we turn 16. Give it a couple of years. You'll be fine.

dude! lol. guitards are all so stupid. i hear ya. i have to deal with them all the time too.

if this isn't a troll thread, which IMO it is whether you want it to be or not, then perhaps you're attitude has something to do with it. :)

Not to be rude, but you need more patience, they are rather slow people, don't let them get to you

Relax. If you feel that this is enough to break up a band, I think YOU need a help. Everyone has moments with their band where sometimes they don't like the decision they make, and you end being like "... why I oughtta..."... don't let this get to you, be bigger than that.

Nah, don't feel a need to fly the coop. I'm actually a pretty relaxed person when it comes to sussing things out in a collaborative process. I have a lot of experience with this in business and in other creative ventures. It's just that the guitarist, I'm finding, is kind of an impatient hot-head. I've let it go up 'till now, but I'll probably bring him down a few pegs if he keeps it up. I also think he's a little frustrated with himself creatively, and he's taking it out on other people. That's usually never a good move. Best to work out one's demons on one's own. I'm not at the point where I'm fuming at this dude; far from it. It's more like, "is it me, or this guy flying off the handle a little bit here?"

Ehhhh, probably his own baggage.

That said, I'm not going anywhere now, because I've finally found a good drummer. And he's a solid guy top of it. We all know how hard that is to come by . . .

Not all guitar players are dummies, many I know can play a wicked bass if they choose to. Tables can be turned with tha old attitude that "you should just shut up and play bass". How about drummers? Beasts, that never listen to anybody but themselves and always play too loud...................I will leave lead singers alone, this time. You should watch it, when there is a complicated bass line that you can't play, the guitar player won't help you get it right.......:cool:
