GWB35 Serial Number

Some wear under the low B. But the bass is pretty minty for being 8 years old.

Wide (lateral) marks on the fingerboard suggest to me that the player is using guitar-style vibrato. The fretless bass lends itself to violin-style vibrato which does not scratch the string across the fingerboard leaving the marks shown in post #21. You can compare the two here:

Even if you prefer guitar-style vibrato, on a fretless instrument it's worth learning the violin technique.

Sorry for bumping up an old thread. These lateral marks are the same as on my bass and I definitely don't use guitar style bending or vibrato. I'm pretty sure they are present on the lower strings due to the wide vibration those low frequency notes give to the string.
