I have been a Miroslav Vitous fan for many years. Weather Report, Larry Coryell, etc.
Been listening to Larry's ( RIP! ) album Spaces forever. And one of my favorite Scott LaFaro songs of all time is Gloria's Step, which is on this album.
Over the years I have affectionately referred to Miroslav's soloing/comping on this ( and other ) songs as "Gypsy Bass". Being a Bohac myself, it's meant as a compliment from me, never an insult!
But all this time I think I was wrong. MV might not have done a lot of the "high-note Gypsy Bass " bowing on his Bass, he did it on Cello I think! BOTH are excellent on this song. Any of you pros know the answer?
I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have 100 times... ( and 100 Miles High
