Today I walked into my local guitar center expecting what i usually get out of such a trip - maybe a pedal, mostly frustration at not being able to fall in love with an instrument. My god was I surprised that I fell in love not once, but twice. I happened upon a very nice looking Warwick std with a couple of duncan basslines in it, my first thought was "Oh, nonstandard pickups - probably wont sound very much like a 'wick with duncans in it". I pulled it off the wall and plugged it in and started to play, it felt great but wasnt sounding too good. I took it up to the dudes behind the counter who threw some new strings on it for me, after an hour and a half playing on it I knew that I was in love. (Ironic especially considering the story i posted here a while back about a guitar shop owner who didnt do that for me and lost the sale because of it)
I also happened upon an MXR carbon copy, the combination of these two purchases has opened up a whole new world of creativity for me and I once again feel like there are limitless possibilities in music. Strange what some new gear can do
