Half wounds for Short Scale?

GHS Brite Flats (= Alloy 52 half-rounds/groundwound) do come in "short scale" with 32.75" winding length (ball end to taper/silk).

do you use
the 7700?
Yes, I believe that is the only short scale set.

Now, on my Mustang, I should use medium scale strings, but there are no Pressurewounds at that kength so I use a long scale set with no problems. If you want a bit more heft, than what the shorties are, you could use one of the thicker long scale sets.

In addition to @michael_t 's posts, the real God's gift to short scale bass players are the GHS Balanced Nickels. The wrap, being pure nickel, have more mass for the given diameter, and therefore more tension. So the strings are not too tight nor too floppy. They have great consistency of tone and feel, as the name suggests, string-to-string and up the neck. Even though rounds, they are not brash, and after seating in take on some of that organic lusciousness of Fender strings from the "golden era." They are reasonably priced, and last a long, long time.

Yep - a big + 1 on the Balances Nickles. They are amazing! I wish they made a length that would work on a string through Mustang. For reference, the short scale BN worked on my Sire U5 string through- I think because the anchor point is closer to the bridge than the Mustang.

You can get deeper string ferrules to move the ball closer to the top of the bass and that will give a little extra length at the nut.
