He is why I started playing bass 29 years ago...

I love new players and styles but for me I just put Heart of the Sunrise from Fragile on and I remember why I went through years of blisters and questions like "what's a matter not good enough to play guitar?"

I remember how that that song floored me and I couldn't even imagine playing any other instrument. I mean there all there to back up the bass right?:)

Happy birthday Chris!!

Heart is just so completely EPIC. Have been listening to it a lot lately. Always loved prog music in the Rush, Yes vein. Not so much the Genesis vein.

I have come to appreciate even more lately how far ahead of the music of the early 70s Geddy and Chris truly were. I don't think music of today comes even close to being as inventive as the music I grew up on was.

Heh-heh... I love how none of the pics posted so far show him anywhere near age 64...

But yeah, Chris is da man. One of my biggest early influences on the bass, and a guy whose lines I never get tired of listening to, and am always impressed by.
