Hardcore bass sound

I'm playing a Fender Jazz bass through a Hartke lh500 and Ampeg 410 and I'm not satisfied with the sound I'm getting at the moment. I'm going to be playing hardcore music with some thrash metal influences. Are there any pedals that can help me get this sound I'm looking for since I can't get it out of my amp? I was thinking about a pre amp kind of pedal with the possibility to dial in some dirt, I've looked into the Tech 21 VT Bass DI, Tech 21 VT Bass VT 2, Darkglass B7K and some others but I don't know which one is best for what I'm going for. Give me some suggestions, thanks!

Could try the EBS Valve Drive, if you can find one. I haven't had a chance to try one personally, but I'm hearing a lot of good things about it. I've tried out a few EBS pedals though, and if it's anything like them, it'll be top notch.

...I know I shouldn't laugh, because I'm sure I look pretty stupid in a pit too...

...But I just couldn't stop myself at 3:30 when everyone started punching the air at the same time...

Sorry, OP, but I can't distinguish the bass in the camera audio so I don't know how to help you. Do you have a recording with clearer audio you can post?

DI all the way. Sansamp, MXR M80, can't go wrong.

also, just gonna leave this here.

Hardcore Dancing before it was mainstream

Man those guys really need a higher stage. I would flip the hell out if I had that many violent teenagers jumping around my stage....

and yes - moshing ain't what it used to be. But I was amused that they all knew the words to the song!

To the OP - your Ampeg 410 might be part of the issue. I hate those things and could never get a clear sound out of them.

Past that - all the dirt choices you list are pretty good ones. I personally like the B7K for heavier dirt although I don't go there *that* often.

Seems like that bass player is just playing through an ampeg classic head. Sounds like he has some clank too. Perhaps an EHX Steel Leather for the clank and a VT Bass pedal for the little bit of hair? He's playing pretty clean... at least it sounds that way through my phone's speakers :)

I have used to use Harttke Bass Attack for 5 years, and it was doesn't really matter which amp or combo I have connected in. But... With my new jazz bass only B7K does dirty job for me as good as I have used to play with.
