Harley Benton PJ-75 OW good for modding?

I've had a Yamaha TRBX174 for some years now and I think it is time for me to buy a second bass, preferably a 5 string. I was talking to a friend of mine and he said that instead of buying an expensive one I should buy a cheap one and change the pickups. That way I have a good sounding bass and I save money.

He said that he read somewhere that this Harley Benton good for modding (plus I must say it looks really nice) Invalid Link Removed

So, what do you guys think? Have you done anything like this? Is it worthy? And also, what pickups would you reccommend?

What did you do about it? I did a review of the bass (only one on YouTube so far) and I can say i'm thinking of buying the 4 string version. It needed some upgrades but the tone and bark were amazing. Really.

In general, HB basses are great platforms for modding: they're inexpensive, accept "standard sized parts", and are built with very good (IME) QC. I'd pit a HB against a Squier any day of the week. You can pick them up used all day long around €50 a pop. At least, you can here in Germany.
