Harmonics and simulated violin sound

I very often utilize a technique involving harmonics on a Fender Jazz. With the high volume knob all the way up and the lower 3/4's to get the best ring sound. Sometimes I will use some effects such as the Memory Man analog delay.

But for the most part I use chording and smacking the string at key spots with the high-mid and treble all the way up on my amp and extra help from a DigiTech Bass Squeeze.

The violin sound is simple enough, involving a smooth piece of metal sliding on usually just the G string. I use a volume pedal to quickly cut the slides out.

I knew and used tap harmonics before, but the violin thing is seriously cool. I really like the way you put it all together, it was very nice sounding. (Now to go try the spoon thing on flats and see if it works...)

In the second video what is the grey pedal second from the right? Synth or something completely different? I'm digging those ambient 'whale like sounds' how do you get that sound?

The grey pedal is the Boss DD-6 (digital delay). I think I have it set to reverse delay with the feedback cranked 100% so when I bend the string, fading in with the volume pedal and followed by reverb, I punch in the DD-6 for a second after to get that ambient sound. Or after some harmonics etc. The volume pedal as the first in the chain is necessary.
