Hartke 3500

Hey all,

I have a late 90s Hartke 3500 amp that I have always enjoyed, but the last time I went to start it up, the most horrible screaming came out of the speakers in my cabinet.

Has anyone ever had this problem?

I am at a loss as to what it may be. I'm hoping that someone here has perhaps had the same issue and can lead me in the right direction to get it fixed.

I would get in touch with Hartke. They have never let me down. They stand behind their product.

I didn't even think about calling Hartke, since I bought the amp new in 1997

Maybe when the kids go down for their nap, I have a phone call to make.

I was hoping it was just a fuse or the preamp tube or something easy like that, since anything more will cost a pretty penny to repair at a solid state repair joint. If it isn't a simple fix, I have the feeling that I may be looking to buy a head, new or used...

Well if you do have to buy a new one, they're not actually that expensive... and there are loads of used ones floating about.

I don't think so, all of the solders look to be in good shape.

I know it isn't a fuse, or else I wouldn't be getting power (I think...I'm no electronics tech)

I put in a new preamp tube and while I was at it, I picked up a new, heavier duty speaker cable in the hopes that it may do the trick.

If that doesn't work, I am starting to wonder if it's a problem with the cabinet?

But seriously, those era of Hartke amps are awesome, so it'd be WELL WORTH getting fixed.

it definitely sounds like some serious screaming feedback...not what I want to hear come out of my bass stack.

If it was coming from one of my guitar amps it would be a totally different story...

So much for hoping that it was gonna be a quick fix...

Now it sounds like the noise from the fan is coming through the speakers, the bass sound sounds like it is going through a super compressed fuzz pedal and cuts out after about 2 seconds of the string/ note being played

Damn

Oh, and the little red power light doesn't work anymore

I'm using my early 90's 3500 at a gig tonight

I do have a GK MB200 for backup though
