Hartke HA3500 w Ampeg SVT 410

Gday folks, I just picked up these 2 for a really good price. Bought seperately but I reckon they pair up nicely. It's a big improvement on my tired old Hartke B90 combo.

The Ampeg had the grill frame pushed in when I got it, I pulled it out and found the frame was broken top and bottom, so I've straightened it and reinforce it with 2 strips of aluminium angle. $7.00 at the hardware. Got the speaker box for a song.

I'll hopefully one day pick up an Ampeg SVT head to match the box, but since I'm a newby at this bass think I think it'll do me well.

Still navigating my way around the Pre-amp volumes, high pass/ low pass and EQ etc, but I've managed to get it sounding pretty nice.

I'm also running a hartke HA3500 but through a peavy TXF 4 ohm 4x10 cabinet. The only thing I don't like about the amp is the compression (I use a pedal in my signal chain instead). Super handy having the hi and low pass filters, as well as the 10 band eq. It's an absolute monster running into a 4 ohm load. Plenty of headroom and very loud for 350 watts from my experience. Really enjoy the tube pre amp and usually have it set to 8 on the tube and 2 on the solid state. Cheers, hope you enjoy!

The Hartke HA3500 head, is an underrated, underappreciated, workhorse of an amp. I had one that I sold back in 2021, never should have done that. That amp never let me down and paired up with any decent 410 it's going to be plenty loud too.

Thanks for the caution on the eq Fisheadjoe. The HA35000 has some serious horsepower under the hood for sure. I just use the rig for practicing by myself. I keep the master vol at 2. I used to have a little ampeg 30 watt combo, that was more then sufficient for my needs, but then I joined talkbasslol. I justified it as if I ever get good enough to start playing with others I've already got a rig for it. Just trying to validate my GAS! Cheers!

Great choice on your amp....Love that head ....Wish I had kept it.
Eventually you might want to upgrade your cab to a better/ more full range cab

Hi mate. Seeing that I'm new to this, by full range do you mean something with a 15" and a tweeter? I do believe the 8 ohm cab might be holding it back a bit, since it's only putting out 240 watt with that. I actually thought Ampeg SVT cabs were pretty high quality stuff. I was thinking of getting an 8 ohm SVT 15" cab and hooking that up too, bringing the load down to 4 ohm and making use of the 350w.

Well...Full range , as in from deeper lows to mids to highs.
I do not mean to diss your cab...I've just not had much luck with various SVT 410 cabs.
Two of them is better....My fav cab is the SVT 810
But other 410 cabs sound better in my experience....Eden 410 XLT....Epifani UL410....Bergantino 410....Mesa Subway 410 cab etc...

Not at all mate, I appreciate the feedback on your experiences. Look, Im tipping this wont be the last bass rig I buy anyway... But its nice to hear from someone whos been a bit further down the road than me.

I might even buy a 4 Ohm cab and see what that does for it.

Yeah I'm really digging it so far. Especially for the price. Picked it up used off of Craigslist for 150$. Got it from an older musician that plays in a 50's era cover tune band. He is getting on in his years and tired of lugging around a boat anchor. Bought the amp off a member on TB for 250 shipped. Great rig for 400$. I couldn't be happier TBH.

Hard to fault anything with the ol' Hartke HA series amps. I still have my 7000, great solid performer.
