I have recently landed the gig with a great tribute band playing Theatres and Festivals. My current rig is a 1000W rack mounted power amp with a simple very old Boss pre amp and a studio compressor, but it is old and getting noisy and suffering interference problems especially in the old theatres. It has served me well for years of Pub Gigs but now that I am in a good band I think i might invest in a propper Bass Amp.
My Budgett is about £700 and I would ideally prefer a head with 2 power amps in, just in case 1 ever failed on me. I have 2 big cabs both rated at 4ohms which also lends themselves to being driven by seperate amps as I don't want to run at 2ohms.
Our gigs are big and i am always DI'd through the house PA, so I am keen to have some good post EQ DI features, especially compression.
I like the look of the Hartke Kilo, it has the 2 amps, ample power and good features, but I have no experience of Hartke or weather the amps are popular.
I also like the look of the AMPEG SVT Pro 7, but I'm not up to date on class D technology and it only has the 1 big power amp.
The Laney Nexus FET looks OK too but don't know much about it.
I would also be very interested to hear peoples opinions on a good amp that would serve me well that i may not have come across.
I have seen other amps id love but the price range goes up a lot.
