Hartke LH1000 Question

Hello, I'm a bit new here so I hope this is the right place for this question. I apologize if not.

I have a Hartke LH1000 and a single VX410 cabinet, the left side power amp works fine but I get no sound when I plug my cabinet into the right side.

I haven't used it in bridge mode until just today in all honesty so all this time there has been nothing plugged into the right side power amp, a few years back I used to have a 115 cabinet as well plugged into the right side so I know that it worked at that time at least but I haven't had a second cabinet in awhile plugged into it.

I didn't know until recently that when using a single cabinet that you were supposed to use it in bridge mode so I ordered a Speakon to 1/4 adapter since my VX410 cabinet doesn't have a Speakon connection only having 1/4 jacks on the back panel, when I hooked it up via the Speakon connection and set it to bridge mode I got sound and it even sounded louder which is cool but my question is since I'm getting sound in bridge mode does this mean that there isn't that much wrong with the right side power amp or that it isn't completely dead at least?

Also, I did a little trouble shooting on my own to test some thing's out, even while not in bridge mode I got a signal through the Speakon connection and the left side just not the right side.

I was basically plugging the cabinet in back and fourth between inputs to see where there were signal's and in what modes for referrence, while in bridge mode it was the same just allot more volume via the Speakon connection.

Again, I was only trying to do a little bit of trouble shooting and I hope that I didn't risk messing anything up further. It is set to bridge mode currently and connected to the cabinet via the Speakon connection and sounds really good but I'm still hoping that there isn't much wrong with the right side power amp especially since it does work in bridge mode and works good at that.

I’m going to say the words that nobody likes to hear but makes the most sense…time for a checkup by a professional tech. Sure it’s going to cost some $$ but it’s better than guessing at it yourself and then have something worse happen. That said I had a LH1000 for a few years and thought it sounded really good and put out some serious power in bridged mode. Good luck!!

I am researching Amp heads and cabs at the moment and looked at the LH 1000 - a very powerful amp head.
Definitely read the manual.
I would proceed cautiously with Bridge mode, according the the manual it puts out 750W into 8 Ohms according to the specifications which is a lot more than a VX 410 is spec’ed to handle.

Bridging is such an outdated amp function since they are already powerful enough. Bridging is old technology that was facilitated for old amps that did not have a lot of power in normal mode to drive subwoofers. It gave the amp more ooompf!

That amp specs: Dual Parallel mode offers 2 x 225 watts at 8 ohms, 2 x 320 watts at 4 ohms, 2 x 545 watts at 2 ohms. That's pretty loud. Bridge mode offers 750 watts at 8 ohms, 1,100 watts at 4 ohms. The headroom is nice but how loud do you need to be?

Have you tried the balance knob?

Heheheh...years ago I had an LH1000 with a VX410 and a VX 215...it sounded crazy good even though the VX line was kinda Hartke's cheaper cabs. It worked out really well, as the 410 was 8 ohm and the 215 is 4 ohm (I still have the 215 cause its relatively lightweight and moves a LOT of air). The balance knob was nice to have, as well. Go easy on those VX drivers though, they are easy to blow.

FWIW, it is my educated notion, i.e. I've asked the appropriate people, you can just run one side of that amp into one cab if situation calls for, use both sides if more oomph desired as mentioned above, and don't mess with bridged. That's what I do.

To be honest I was already thinking that I might have to do that but I was hoping that there might not be that much wrong with it, I should get it looked at though when I get the chance. Thank you for the reply and the help, it is appreciated.

Thank you.

Edit: read / follow the manual and quit dinkin' around with the channel A & B 1/4" outputs when in Bridged mode.

Will do, thanks again.

When I first hooked it up via bridge mode the volume was really loud and the volume wasn't even at half so I turned it down even further, hopefully keeping the volume low will help but I will be careful. Thank you for the help, it is appreciated.

I tried the balance knob but still nothing on the right side. It sounds good on the left and in bridge mode but nothing on the right side. Thanks for the reply and the help, it is appreciated.

When I first hooked it up in bridge mode I noticed the difference in volume. I've been running it with the volume low to be careful. Thank you for the reply, it is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply and the information, it is appreciated.

Thank you everyone for the help and the replies, it is appreciated. I'll try to get it looked at when I get the chance and I'm able to, for now I'll leave it in bridge mode as the manual and the Hartke website say's to do when using a single cab and since it's working good and I'll be careful with keeping the volume reasonably low and keeping an eye on it. Thanks again everyone.
