Hartke: Why Do Musicians Use It?

Interesting to see all these comments on how durable they are. They do sound good. I blew a 410 Harke in the 90's, blew a harke combo amp couple yrs later. I've had my boogie speakers since with no issues.
That’s what I upgraded to from the Hartke, a Mesa M Basis 2000 and pair of 410 Diesel series, the leather wrapped beasts. Oh my god that rig, I wish I still had it, but my back is glad I don’t.

Back in MY day (oh, there goes my hip!)...Hartke was the IT brand. This was the mid to late 80s. That was the shizzle. I didnt have the money so I got low priced Peavey stuff, then I took time off from playing in bands for a while, then when I came back to it in the early 2000s, Hartke was a cheap, budget based brand. I was like, wth happened? I started playing with bands and needed an amp so I picked up a Hartke 2500 and a cheap cab and it sounded pretty good. I moved on when I needed more power but there products in recent years have been very good IMO.

While watching the likes of Dave Ellefson, Billy Sheehan, Rex Brown, Etc., I noticed they all used Hartke. From what I seem to have noticed is after the Mid-2000's Ampeg Meltdown many artists transitioned to Hartke, but why? Why not Ashdown, Gallien-Krueger, Aguilar, MarkBass, upon many other bands? I'm pretty sure you could get a full Hartke 1000 Watt head and 2x12 HyDrive Cabinet that Billy Sheehan uses, and still not have enough to get even a used Aguilar (or other brands) Head. Why do the big names use Hartke?

Other Notes: I have heard these speakers blow out a TON, another question mark there....
ANY speakers will blow if you put enough power into them. Meanwhile, I've seen old Guild/Hartke cabs with their original speakers as well as many other cabs that are at least 30 years old. Hartke is a fine brand, they're available anywhere in the world, and they're good, although you have to like what Hartke does. I do for certain things, too.

They sound nice and are inexpensive. I used a Hartke 4200 cabinet for sound a decade and never blew anything. I still have my old 3500 head that I got used for 300 bucks like 20 years ago. Why not use them?
