Has anybody tried Sono-Tone strings?

This is the first time I've heard of them, so just out of curiosity I checked out their website, and found three different types of bass strings.
BASS CLASSIC ("NICKEL STEEL"): CLARITY-PUNCH-TRUE, 45-65-80-105.

That is some hilarious marketing copy (although, to be fair, the copy on string packages is almost as bad as what you read on the back of a shampoo bottle)! The descriptions, gauges and construction of the three varieties are identical except for the name and package color.
Accurate reproductions of some vintage string types is a really interesting idea, but these are not that. $70 a pack nickle on hex is the sound of the 50s?

You would think a string company would specify whether their strings are roundwound, flatwound, or whatever, especially when they charge $70 for bass strings and $19 for guitar strings.
I was impressed with them on my Sadowsky Modern 5 (did not try on the P or J) as I was gigging with the Sadowsky, The feel and tone was exceptional. I just wish they had a 5 string set as I had to grab a B string from another set that was not the best match, but that was a minor issue. I will buy again, but I still think they are costly compared to other strings.

Anyone try the Vintage set or know if they are flats? They popped up on a flatwound search today and only says hand wound in the description. So I'm curious if the are indeed flatwound or if they are termed vintage because of the pure nickel and not being as bright as the other strings.
