Double Bass Has anyone tried the Markbass Alain Caron Traveler 123 cab

I am a fan of Alain and he has always gone for a flat transparent tone.
Just wondering if anyone has tried his 800 watt 12” x 5” x 1” three way cab?
It’s somewhat of a heavyweight these days at almost 47 lbs.

At 46 lbs that’s a heavy cabinet. Just my take. Markbass makes quality gear. Your TC-112 weighed @16 lbs less.

Of course you'd have to put them side by side for comparison. I frequently ran my older TC-112 with a 800 watt RMS

Walter Woods Ultra, and didn't have any issues. Guitar Center used to have all the Markbass cabinets, but lately

her in St. Louis not so much.

I used to have the Richard Bona 1x12" cab which is very similar. It was okay, but not good enough to haul around 45lbs IMO. My AC5 sounds much better with my NL112's.

I just compared the 46lb Markbass to my 25lb Aguilar SL112.
Not much difference other than in the low end.
I added my other SL112 and it was lights out!
So thanks to GC I returned the cab.

Markbass amps has 500kOhms input inpedance, what is not high enough for piezzo pickups, so using a buffer preamp recommended!

Typically flat to mid forward

If you want a cab that is great for upright and electric, lightweight, high power, sounds great...check out the Barefaced Super Midget.

I do not like their cabinets at all, but the Nano head is a keeper.

I Currently play a Traveler 123 thru a Little Mark 500 Vintage.
It is staggeringly clear and handles so much power. As much tube drive and gain as i can put through this cabinet is heard pure and clean and loud! I can plug in an external or PA or any digital recording thru any other amp and it sounds clear and clean as a set of headphones. It does not lack on the low end, but if -and sometime I might- EXTRA low end is needed then Mark bass has plenty of other 1x12 or 1x15 cabinets to stack.. but really that'd be excessive. Its still relatively small too and the weight isnt so bad without the extra bulk.

I have found my CMD-121P combo sounds fine without a preamp, both with my current bass, which has a Full Circle on it, and on my previous bass, which had a Lifeline. YMMV, of course.

Yeah, that amp interested for me. It has 1Mohms input, instead of 500Kohms what find most of the Markbass amps. The price is over, what I looking for now, but maybe….
