Think of Talkbass.com as a pack of wild Mustangs. The Mustangs are running across the open prairie, and they spot a Buffalo. The Buffalo gets a phone call from a Wildebeast, all the way across the world in Mozambique. They chat, about different prairie grasses, female Buffalo and Wildebeast, and the normal things that quadrapeds discuss when they have the leisure time away from predators, and one thing leads to another, and next thing you know, they're trading stock options.
At this point, the pack of wild Mustangs represents the subconscious, and the Buffalo represents an old shoe. The Wildebeast, never comfortable with metaphors, represent themselves. Knowing the Buffalo are doing their day trading in a purely metaphorical context, the Wildebeast get a leg up, or maybe four, and run away with the market. Their holdings increase exponentially, and they give up on Wildebeasting all together, and settle down in Manhatten, where they get a lovely apartment with a view.
Meanwhile, the wild Mustangs have joined an all-male chorus, and are regularly performing so far off Broadway that no light can escape. The reviews are fantastic, but the audiences just aren't coming in like they used to, and they hire Orangutangs to pick ticks off of them. One of the Orangutangs picks off a tick, burns it with a match, and flushes it down the toilet.
THAT is what TBOT is, in the grander scheme of things.
It's nowhere near that organized.
