Have you played on a moving stage?

Uhh, yes twice. Once on a rolling flatbed during a City wide parade. Certainly a comedy of errors. But we were local kids having a blast.

And then on an auditorium stage that raised up hydraulically from the orchestra pit. We started playing while it was down, as it was lifting up in to the theater as the lights rose in the theater. Then on last song, it was being lowered back down as the theater blacked out again. It was pretty cool. Finishing song was Topp's "LaGrange". The crowd went wild.

Played on a trailer multiple times in a parade over a period of a couple years... biggest drawback, playing the same two songs back to back, over and over and over....... "I heard it through the grapevine" and "Authority song".... After that... I cringe every time I play them.

I saw Yes play in Cohasset, MA, where there's a turntable stage. Steve Howe commented on it... didn't exactly complain, but you could tell he wasn't thrilled.

I've done the parade thing, it was fun once you got used to it.

I played a few Boston Harbor Booze Cruises back in the '80s. We'd hit the occasional skyscraper-created wind tunnels, which actually seemed to blow the sound away from us and--critically!--our monitors. Far and away the drunkest crowds I've ever played for. Made me wonder why people were willing to pay money for the privilege of leaning over a railing and vomiting.

We played a private party on a cruise boat on lake Couer d'Alene a couple years ago. Warm summer evening, great crowd, beautiful lake, likely my favorite gig ever.

I saw some acts at a local theater with a revolving stage, but it seldom worked, so they gave it a quarter turn between songs.

Only one I know of is Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix AZ, I’m not worthy to play on it..

Yep, did a few turns With a thrown together pickup band on a trailer for city parade. We had a quiet generator in the bed of the truck pulling us so that was good, and a few near misses with sudden stops and starts, but the worst part was the fake floppy doggie ears on a headband and a fake doggie tail clipped to the back of my belt. We got interviewed by one of the free local color rags and i gave a fake name.

I played on something like this...only...82% more rust and 67% more holes.

2 different boat cruises- one on guitar, (fairly calm, lots of fun), and one on bass, (rough waters, awful).

Played on a trailer for the Dory Days Parade in Pacific City, Oregon. Narrowly missed getting hit by a drunk driver. A car was hit and there was a fatality.

Played the Q104.3 Cruise Around Manhattan several times with on-air personality Maria Milito hosting.

Played on the back of a truck on the Princeton University campus for the Class of 1969 Homecoming. It was Cicada season and they were swarming everywhere.

Oh yeah, played on a ship that does harbor cruises. My mic stand was moving the whole time, I literally had to chase it around to sing. And every year I play in a Christmas parade where the band is on a float, that is a real trip!

Boats count. Moving in an unpredictable way could be pretty tricky for sure if you are not in sync weight wise, could be pretty embarrassing... or funny or both

I played on a flat bed trailer, pulled by a pickup truck in a parade once.

Did this once about 25 years ago. Would never agree to do it again.

I’ve played on a Christmas parade float and it was raining. It’s pretty neat because you feel like you’re important and you usually keep playing the same 2-3 songs over and over. Having tiny gear helps.
