Head or combo with 48v phantom power?

What mic are you using?

Phantom power is available in 3 different voltages, 48V is not necessarily required for many mics and some amps comply with the P12 or P24 standard.
 
Right now it’s the ear trumpet labs Nadine, though I’m also considering trying out something else with better rejection
The Nadine specs state P24 and P48. I would bet that it will also work fine on P12.
 
Schertler acoustic amps have a dedicated channel for condenser mic’s. It’s 24v but works fine.
I have an older Unico and use it this way.
They’re expensive and distribution is limited but they’re very well made and the used prices seem to be accessible if it’s old enough.
There’s a few threads here about them as well.
 
Hey all. I’ve got one of the Acoustic Image heads that allows me to use a condenser mic (for my DB) but I’m not loving it. I’m trying to find other amps that have phantom power. Seems like only Markbass might offer some. Are there others? Thanks
Acoustic Image used different phantom power voltages in different incarnations of their amplifiers. Yes see below.
 
DPA is the only company that I’ve ever seen who released noise floor specs at different phantom voltages using their DPA 4099 Devote.
They show a rise in the noise level with a decrease in phantom power voltages. Whether you would notice this on a concert stage or club
I don’t know.
 
Use the amp you love. If you need phantom power, buy an adapter. For example,

I don’t know.
The increase in noise level is generally very small and is some cases it’s just a change in the signal to noise ratio only due to the increase in available level divided by the noise and not due to the noise floor itself changing.

At the risk of derailling this thread, what don't you love about the AI head?
Well, it’s certainly provided some great sound under certain conditions. But I cannot for the life of me dial in an appropriate EQ setting in most situations. A simplistic way of describing it is that each band seems to have this point where it’s this exponential
Leap - meaning there’s no high….no high….no high….ALL THE HIGHS. At this seems to be the same for all the bands. And I don’t want to add anything else into the signal chain like external preamp or EQ
